Superfluous Appetites
Gideon Näf and Justin Labine

Gideon Näf and Justin Labine have been creating collaboratively in Toronto’s west end at Free North Press since 2008. Free North Press is a shared printmaking studio where both artists work individually and with guest artists on a variety of print based endeavors. Work ranges from editions of relief prints and etchings to workshops and commercial letterpress production.

For this exhibition the duo has teamed up to present a survey of illustrative prints and drawings from the past three years. Whether in Justin's sprawling historically influenced drawings or Gideon’s dream inspired, tongue and cheek compositions; the pair use both the content of their imagery and the very essence of hand crafted work to present a critical response to the mania that is modern life.
